The Music of Mysterious Lands Concert

Concerts & Music This concert, performed live, will be the premier performance of a new musical work by composer and ethnomusicologist Dr. Daniel Thomas Davis. Dr. Davis's original composition offers a response to the Book of the Faiyum and the special exhibition Egypt's Mysterious Book of the Faiyum, on view at the Walters Art Museum from October 6, 2013, to January 5, 2014. The program for this 90-minute musical event will juxtapose Davis's piece about the Book of the Faiyum with related repertoire, offering the audience a virtual tour of mysterious places through the medium of music. Composer Dr. Daniel Thomas Davis is currently the Provost's Postdoctoral Fellow at Duke University and is an alumnus of the Peabody Institute and the The Johns Hopkins University.
