Baltimore's Inner Harbor will become an epicenter for Do-It-Yourself invention beginning July 1, as all three floors of the Maryland Science Center transform into a hotbed of contraptions, challenges and creative inspiration for Gizmos, Gadgets & Gears-a special summer experience all day, every day, through Labor Day. Visitors can build it, break it, test it or take it home in dozens of Gizmos, Gadgets & Gears activities and workshops engineered for an imagination-fueled summer of tinkering. Among the 50+ experiences that turn visitors into inventors are mousetrap-built racecar races, rubber band-powered helicopter flight tests, recycled CD art design and pinhole camera construction. Guests should keep their eyes peeled for Pop-Up, Bite-sized and Shock Science demonstrations-unannounced moments of exploring science marvels such as stomp rockets, zoetropes and alka-seltzer powered propulsions. Gizmos, Gadgets & Gears activities are free with paid admission to the Maryland Science Center.
